After 650 kilometres of walking, you'd think one more mountain wouldn't matter. O Cebreiro disagrees.

The climb into Galicia is steep, often shrouded in fog, and hits legs that have already been walking for weeks. It's the kind of ascent that strips away any remaining pretence of ease. Halfway up, the path gets narrow, the mist closes in, and the only thing to do is keep moving.

And then you reach the top. The stone village of O Cebreiro appears out of the clouds — one of the oldest stops on the entire Camino, with a church that has been welcoming pilgrims since the 9th century. The landscape changes completely: green, misty, Celtic. You've crossed into Galicia.

From O Cebreiro, Santiago is less than 150 kilometres away. For the first time in weeks, that number feels real. Not just a goal — an arrival.

The descent into Galicia is one of the most beautiful stretches of the entire Camino. The hard part is almost over. Almost.
