The Camino costs less than you think

The Camino costs less than you think. Really.

One of the most common reasons people put off the Camino: they assume it's expensive. It isn't.

A typical day on the Camino costs between €35 and €50 — all in. A bunk in a municipal albergue runs €8 to €15. The menú del peregrino is €10 to €13 for three courses with wine. A café con leche and a tortilla at the morning bar stop: €3. That's it. That's the day.

No hotel bookings. No restaurant reservations. No entertainment budget. The Camino strips spending down to the essentials — a bed, food, and forward motion.

The bigger costs are the ones before you leave: flights, gear, the first few nights in St. Jean or Porto. But the walk itself? Pilgrims consistently find they spend less on the Camino than they do in a normal week at home.

What "stops" you is never really the money. The Camino has a way of making that clear.
