Rain on the Camino isn't bad luck. It's part of the deal.

Every experienced pilgrim has a rain story. The day it started in Galicia and didn't stop for three days. The morning the Pyrenees disappeared into cloud and the path became a river. The afternoon everything — pack, boots, socks, spirits — was completely soaked through.

And almost every one of them will tell you it was one of the best days.

There's something that happens when the weather turns and you keep walking anyway. The fair-weather tourists have stopped. The path empties out. The landscape goes grey and close and strangely beautiful. You're wet and there's nothing to be done about it, so you stop fighting it and just walk.

Rain on the Camino has a way of stripping away the performance of it. You're not taking photos. You're not thinking about how it looks. You're just moving through it, one step at a time, which is the whole point anyway.

Good rain gear matters — a proper poncho or jacket that actually works, waterproof pack cover, gaiters if the path is muddy. But the gear is secondary. The mindset is everything.

The Camino will be wet sometimes. The pilgrims who enjoy it most are the ones who stopped treating that as a problem.
